Khadija, age 7, and Hafsat, age 9, are victim’s of a broken marriage. They live with their father, however, during the recent Sallah period, they visited their mother. After the Sallah break, the two little girls however refused to return back to their father. When their mother demanded to know why, they opened up to their mother about the constant sexual abuse they have been passing through in the hand of one of their father’s friend. Here’s the reports from their mother and father respectively:

MOTHER: My two daughters (Hafsat age 9 and Khadija age 7) came to my house to spend their sallah break, since we are not together with their father. After the break I intended to send them back to their Father’s house but they refused. So I asked them the reason for the rejection, they said, their Father’s friend (Abubakar Sani) use to have sex with them when their father is absent and still show them some blue films videos which they don’t like. I checked their private, and found some injuries. I have to insert them in hot water to relieved their pain and I further took them to a chemist and purchased some drugs for them.Then, I finally informed their father to take the issue to the relevant authorities.

I have a close friend called Abubakar Sani who usually visits my house in my presence and also in my absence.

He was so closed to my children. When l divorced my wife, I was left with my two daughters (Hafsat age 9 and Khadija age 7) in the house.
Since he has access to my house in my absence, he used that opportunity to have sex with both of my daughters in my absence and give them some money so as not to exposed the secret to anyone. During sallah festivities my daughters went to their mother’s house. After the celebration, they refused to came back claiming that they have been sexually harassed by their Father’s friend (Abubakar Sani). Their mother informed me and I took the matter to the vigilante group who arrested the accused and called me for intervention.

This case was reported to us by one of CRACO Volunteers in TARABA state, Mr. Uba Barde. It happened in Taraba state in the capital city of Jalingo. We have instructed Mr. Uba to do a proper follow up and ensure the Paedophile is prosecuted and punished according to law. We will also work with him to know why these kids are living with their father, instead of their mother. We will also ensure appropriate steps are taken to get them living with their mother henceforth.
